What we know:

At the moment EA Sports has not yet confirmed that they are working on a new football simulation in the long running franchise but it’s pretty much a guarantee that every year, at some point during September, gamers will get a new installment.


Given the advancements introduced in FIFA 12 it is highly unlikely that the thirteenth early game bearing the name will be revolutionary in any way but we’re likely to get advances in at least a few areas.

Weekend Reading: Assassin’s Creed III Is Just What the Franchise Needs

This week we finally learned the first actual details about Assassin’s Creed III, the next installment in Ubisoft’s action adventure series, by checking out its cover and screenshots, not to mention a few loose pieces of information.
Without a doubt the most exciting thing about the upcoming game is that it finally introduces a new protagonist and a new historical setting. As we saw from the cover, the new hero in Assassin’s Creed III is a Native American that will use both traditional weapons, like a Tomahawk, and new ones, like pistols, while fighting during the American Revolution.
This is great news as even though recent games in the series were quite good, the yearly installments definitely made some people, myself included, grow weary of the franchise as a whole.

Battlefield 3 Dominates Nordic Game Chart

Battlefield 3, the first person shooter from developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts, has managed to top the Nordic game chart for the previous week, fending off determined challenges from both FIFA 12, the EA Sports football simulation, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, another hit launched during 2012.

Download iPad 3 Retina Simulator by Developer Ryan Petrich

Ryan Petrich, iOS developer and mobile engineer at Medialets, has put together a Retina Display simulator that allows other developers to test their apps and see how they will look on the iPad 3’s 2048-by-1536 pixel display.

Called Retina Simulator, the tool allows developers to create artwork with their existing assets and see how their hot-selling (or not-so-hot-selling) iOS apps will look on the iPad’s Retina Display.

Tiny Core Linux 4.4 RC2 and Tiny Core Linux 4.3.1 Available for Download

Robert Shingledecker announced the immediate availability for download of the Tiny Core Linux 4.4 Release Candidate 2 operating system and Tiny Core Linux 4.3.1.

Tiny Core Linux 4.3.1 only contains some small changes such as: tce-size with date check on sizefile update, tce-setup fixed when base boot code is used with missing /tmp/tce/optional directory, tce-setdrive with a required readlink update, and iletool.sh with a required readlink is now used after tce-setdrive.

Samsung Will Ship Flexible AMOLED Displays in 2012

Samsung may not be making LCDs anymore, but its OLED business is something it is placing great hopes in, as evident from both direct and, in this case, indirect announcements. 

Word just came out that Samsung has decided on a sort of estimated time of arrival for its flexible AMOLED display panels. 


We've known about them for months, but they are still in prototype form, so demos of bendable devices have been sparse. 

Nevertheless, they happened at electronic shows in the past and, if Samsung has its way, devices with flexible AMOLED panels will go on sale this year (2012), according to a report. 

Motorola RAZR Coming to Spain in March via Yoigo

 Motorola RAZR is about to make its debut in Spain. On the opening day of the Mobile World Congress 2012, the company announced the upcoming availability of the Motorola RAZR in the country.

Customers who want to grab the RAZR will be able to do so for free on select contracts. Motorola confirmed that the smartphone would be available through Yoigo, the fourth mobile phone operator in Spain, from March. 

Lubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 Screenshot Tour

Canonical published earlier today, March 1st, the first Beta release of the upcoming Lubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) operating system. 

Lubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 comes now with the popular LightDM display manager as the default login manager, with the default GTK greeter.

The new artwork, called Ozone, of the Lubuntu 12.04 operating system has been implemented in this Beta release, even if it has a few GTK3 issues.

Cobian 11 (Gravity) Beta Released

 Cobian Backup stepped into a new stage of development with the current release of the beta build for version 11, dubbed Gravity. Among the chief improvement available in the revision is support for AES encryption (128, 192 and 256 bits) outside ZIP compression.

Lima Sky have released a new version of their popular puzzle game, Doodle Jump, for iPhone and iPad. The changes are minor, but significant for avid players of Lima Sky’s puzzler.

Gandeng EMD, ASUS Siap Perluas Distribusi Motherboard AMD di Indonesia

 

​Produsen yang terkenal dengan produk komputernya, ASUS, baru saja mengumumkan kerjasamanya dengan distributor bernama E Media Device (EMD).

Dalam rilis pers yang diterima Ghiboo, Selasa (28/2), EMD akan menjadi distributor resmi ASUS untuk produk motherboard khususnya yang berbasis prosesor AMD.

"Kehadiran EMD akan melengkapi distribusi motherboard yang selama ini telah dilaksanakan oleh Astrindosehingga jangkauan distribusi pun semakin luas dan mempermudah pengguna di Indonesia mendapatkan produk-produk ASUS," ujar Willy Halim, Country Manager ASUS di Indonesia.

MWC 2012: Download iPad-Native Vimeo 2.0

Today, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Vimeo has announced the second major release of its iOS application which now boasts full support for the iPad’s 10-inch screen, as well as a niftier interface on the iPhone side.

"We've seen mobile traffic triple since we launched our original iPhone app in early 2011," said Joseph Schmitt, lead mobile developer at Vimeo.

"Now, we've taken what we learned while creating our previous apps and applied it to the updated iOS to improve overall design and usability. We're especially pleased with the awesome iPad user interface, which the Vimeo community has eagerly awaited."According to the change log, Vimeo 2.0 features a native iPad UI and an updated interface on the iPhone that’s allegedly easier to use.

Opera Mini 7 Gets Social with Built-in Facebook and Twitter Updates

On the desktop, Opera is a perennial underdog, it's well respected by those in the know, but not very popular with regular users. But on feature phones, it's a phenomenon, pretty much owning the market.

And, with everyone and their dog gushing over smartphones, most of the people on this planet can't afford one, instead they have a regular "feature" phone. But they still want to use Facebook, Twitter and so on.


Facebook offers a feature phone app, Facebook Zero as well as the mobile site, Twitter has its deals with carriers for SMS support.

But Opera thinks it can do better and in theupcoming Opera 7 Mini, it integrated both social networks straight into the new "home" tab. 

New Windows Phones at MWC, Expanded Marketplace Availability

Microsoft has gone to Europe this week, to attend the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where it has already made a series of announcements related to its Windows Phone platform. 

Two of the company’s partners announced new mobile phones today, namely Nokia and ZTE. The handsets,Nokia Lumia 610 and ZTE Orbit, will arrive on shelves in the second quarter of the year. 

The new devices are meant to bring Windows Phone to new market segments (the Lumia 610 is priced under EUR 200), and were made official with a new version of the mobile platform on board. 


Microsoft calls this new operating system release the “enhanced Windows Phone 7.5 Mango,” but it is, in fact, none other than the Tango platform that we’ve all been waiting for since fall.

Juniper Networks Mobile Threat Center melaporkan serangan malwaredi perangkat mobile berbasis Android selama tahun 2011 mengalami peningkatan hingga 3.325 persen. Penambahan program berbahaya tersebut diklaim belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya.
