Panasonic Announces One of the Most Expensive Ivy Bridge Laptops

Japanese giant Matsushita Corporation, owner of the well-known Panasonic brand, has just announced the new Let’s note B11 notebook, on its official website.


The Let’s note B11 is made only for sale in the Land of the Rising Sun and comes with Intel’s Core i7-3615QM CPU that benefits from a 6 MB Level 3 cache and runs at a moderate 2.3 GHz frequency.

The Turbo Boost option will raise the frequency up to 3.3 GHz when only one thread in demanding attention and all the effort will dissipate a maximum of 45 watts of heat.

NVIDIA CUDA Goes Open Source

NVIDIA's GPUs have high parallel processing capabilities, but those capabilities are useless if programs and systems don't have support for them, which means that NVIDIA has had to negotiate special deals and strike partnerships with builders of supercomputers and software makers.

From now on, though, it will be easier to implement GPU Acceleration in new software and machines, because NVIDIA has provided the CUDA Compiler source code to LLVM.

Sprint to Launch Samsung GALAXY S III with Dual-Core CPU and 16GB Storage

Samsung and Sprint have a long history together, which is why it won’t come as a surprise if the carrier is among the first, if not the first, to offer the third-generation Galaxy smartphone.

Unveiled earlier this month, Samsung Galaxy S III has been confirmed in Europe for May 30. Still, the South Korean company promised it would launch the super-phone in the United States as well, though no exact release dates have been given.

Well, at least Samsung mentioned that the Galaxy S III would be available in the States this summer via multiple carriers and authorized resellers. Canadian customers will be able to grab this one too, though there is no release date either.

Ubuntu 12.10 To Feature Linux Kernel 3.5

The newest operating system from Canonical, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin), is shipping with Linux kernel 3.2, but the upcoming Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) could arrive with Linux kernel 3.5. 

Canonical has surprised people with the decision to provide a default PAE kernel with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin), but the company has never been too bold in regard to new Linux kernel versions.

Motorola ATRIX 2 Now Available in Argentina via Claro

Claro is Motorola’s main partner in Argentina. A small chunk of Motorola’s portfolio was launched in Argentina via this carrier. For example, last year in July, Motorola and Claro have teamed up to offer customers the ATRIX Android smartphone. 

This week both companies announced the immediate availability the Motorola ATRIX 2 Android smarpthone. Beginning this week, customers can purchased the device via Claro for as low as $365 USD and a plan of $45 USD.

Those who don't want to commit to a long term contract will have to spend a small fortune on the Motorola ATRIX 2, as the carrier offers the device for a suggested retail price of $1,365 USD.

That’s one month earlier than expected, as Nokia promised the smartphone would be launched on the market sometime in May, for a suggested retail price of €450 ($585).
