Recent findings show that the number of fake anti-virus programs decreased considerably compared to June when 50-60,000 attempts recorded to have infected systems.
Kaspersky researchers observed only 10,000 daily attempts, which is still a lot, but it can almost be considered normal if compared to the past months.
This type of malware family has recorded a few newcomers such as the Trojan-FakeAV.Win32.OpenCloud.
It has also been discovered that underground forums promise a reward to anyone who can help the distribution process of these malicious programs.
To make sure you are not affected by these malevolent applications, never install any security solution aside from the ones you trust. If an unknown app starts warning you about infections, try to remove it before jumping to pay the amount of money that is usually required for the so-called activation.
