Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D Launch Date Set for February 21 on the 3DS

Stealth matter

Video game publisher Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that its Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D video game now has a clear launch date of February 21 on the new Nintendo 3DS handheld, with the company showing off the packshot for the game for the first time.

Snake Eater was a huge hit when it originally launched on the PlayStation 2 home gaming console and the development team has taken the story and the original features of the game and has remade them for the modern age.

Snake Eater 3D is set to take full advantage of the glass free three dimensional gaming capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS and will allow players to get deeper inside the mind the environment of the special operative.

The new game will also make full use of the new Circle Pad accessory for the Nintendo 3DS, allowing players an enhanced degree of control over the actions of their in-game character.

The story of this reimagined Metal Gear Solid installment will follow Snake as he is tasked with getting through the Soviet jungle in order to reach a scientist that has been abducted.

This is just the starting point for an adventure that will see Snake come face to face with a number of boss characters before the final twist will see him fight against one of the key figures from his own past.

The core mechanics of Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D are stealth and quick takedowns and both of them benefit from the new features of the Nintendo 3DS, offering more immersion and more reason to progress through the game.

The 3DS version of the game also includes support for a new mechanics called camouflage photography, which allows gamers to take a picture of real world items and then create fatigues for the main character using that patters, allowing him to blend in different environments.
