Web Site Anti-Malware Scan Released by Symantec's GeoTrust

Webmasters can better protect their sites
Website owners who fear they might be targeted by cybercriminals who plan on using their sites as means of infecting unsuspecting internauts can now turn to GeoTrust's Web Site Anti-Malware Scan, a cloud service that's designed to identify any malicious element.

Available exclusively through Channel Partners, the tool can scan up to 50 web pages each day and it's even able to detect previously unknown pieces of malware.

"The GeoTrust Web Site Anti-Malware Scan is a great way to provide customers with a low-risk and easy way to start using security tools with their domain names. Symantec is giving eNom and eNom's resellers an opportunity to position GeoTrust Web Site Anti-Malware Scan as a cost-effective introduction to security," revealed Chris Sheridan, vice president of Business Development at eNom.

"It is a perfect complement to the already-established SSL services we sell today, and we are pleased to add it to our portfolio."

Websites are highly targeted lately by cybercriminals and an infection could be bad news for business and customers alike. Such a tool could save owners a lot of money and their reputation in many situations.

As we all know, once an Internet location is compromised to serve viruses and other malevolent components, clients will have a hard time placing their trust in the services of the victim company.

"Web site owners and visitors alike dread the idea of downloading hidden malware and want to be sure they don't get hacked," said Fran Rosch, VP Trust Services at Symantec.

By working closely with our channel partners to develop a solution tailored to their customers' needs, Symantec is maximizing the resources of the channel while positioning its partners to provide an innovative yet simple and affordable security option for web site owners."

Symantec recently released a similar tool that's based on protecting the advertisements in a website from the hands of hackers. As we all know, such software can be highly useful in a virtual environment filled with threats.
