After deploying Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception at the beginning of the month, its developer, Naughty Dog, still doesn’t know what it’s going to focus on for its next project, but does mention that there are still plenty of stories that can be told in the universe of the series.
The Uncharted franchise has been delighting PlayStation 3 gamers for quite some time, delivering stunning cinematic adventures that focused on protagonist Nathan Drake and his various companions.
Just as the third installment is reaching the hands of eager PS3 owners from around the world, its developer, Naughty Dog, has talked about what’s next for the studio.
Speaking with Venture Beat, Uncharted producer Justin Richmond says that, because the Uncharted series was never conceived asa trilogy, there’s more than enough room for a fourth installment, as there are more stories to tell in the universe.
"We have always said that if we think that we can make something new and interesting, if the fans still want them, then we can make another one,” Richmond said. "But we never said how many of these things there will be. There are plenty more stories in the universe. It is just a question of what's the company interested in doing next. We really don't know at this moment."
Uncharted 3 sold millions of copies since its release and has been critically praised for its cinematic adventures, so there’s quite a lot of desire from the community to see a new installment of Nathan Drake’s adventures.
Naughty Dog, however, is now on a creative break, with Richmond saying that, "We're trying to recover from the process of making it and I think we will come back together and maybe this month and next month make a decision about what we are going to do next."
Until then, however, fans can still enjoy Uncharted 3, which just received a brand new patch to address some of the complaints concerning its aiming system.
